Banana and her Sunglasses

Here is a picture of the middle child with her new hair cut. These sunglasses were brought home to her from when I went to Vegas and she loves then.
On Mother's Day I didn't realize that she had brought them into church and when the Primary children went up to sing, she took them along. So there was Banana in the front row with her big ol' shades on.
I missed the whole thing because I was in the back helping the Primary kids sing.

The man child's Prayer

I know that usually one does not write up prayers that are said, but I am not a “one.”
For family prayer it was Andrew’s (the youngest and two years old) turn.
“Dear Heavenly Father,
mumble, mumble, more words we did not understand…. GUN… mumble… mumble… SHOOT
.”
Dad interjects and tried to steer the prayer in a less violent direction, “say, thank you for…”
“NO, MY TURN. Mumble, mumble, FIGHT.”
Dad trying again. “Thank you for Mommy.”
“I DO IT! MY TURN!. Mumble-words only known to Andrew- SHOOT THE GUN… mumble, mumble…
Dad trying to end the pray, “Say amen.”
“NO, I DO IT! FIGHT THE BAD GUYS!”
And where was I, the mother of said child? Laughing silently, or not so silently, into my shoulder. Who said prayers are boring?
Not it our home!

Dandelion Bouquet

Today I got my first lovely dandelion bouquet.
For some wild reason, our neighbors do not share our love of dandelions. The other day I watched as our neighbor sprayed poison on these happy yellow pillows of spring. Right in front of my young’ns! ( Just because something can reproduce quickly does not make it evil. I mean, look at Mormons!)
Yesterday while I was outside with the kids NJ went into the neighbors yard to picked a dandelion.

I tried to stop her from picking the flower, but I guess that her “selective hearing” had gotten in the way. I told her to drop the dandy flower and go inside to wash her hands. Before going inside she picked up her jump rope to take with her.
Then, like the typical genius parent, I told her that she was getting the poison all over her jump rope and now needed to wash that too.

She gave me a look of ‘how dumb can you get mother.’

And said, “It can’t kill the jump rope!”

Yeah, I guess I deserved that one.
Later today we all went to the park on a bike ride. The man child and I were a little behind the rest of the pack but we were enjoying the scenery. He looked up and pointed to the waxing half-moon.

“What’s that?”

“It’s the moon.”

“Mooooon,” Long pause and shrug of the shoulders. “It’s broken.”

PS. Manly man got into trouble today. One of my soccer players was showing him his big muscles and Manly man said, “Holy muscles!”
Which of course is often the right thing to say… but not this time…
The boy put his hands on his hips and gave Manly man a very serous look.
“You don’t say holy unless you are talking about Jesus! My mom told me that.”

Manly man then had to give a very embarrassed apology.
Shheees Manly man! Aren’t you supposed to be the good example?
I love coaching soccer!
